Baby Amber

In November 2010, a Doma medical team was hosting a clinic in Bora, the future location of the Hidota Health Center.  During the clinic, Amber Kaufman, the Doma Medical Coordinator & Ethiopia Project Director, was asked to travel to a nearby hut.  Gabra had just given birth to a child in the middle of the night.  She was suffering from dehydration and showed signs of an infection – she had nothing to eat or drink for two days and was feverish and weak. Amber gave Gabra an IV with fluid, antibiotics and clean drinking water; Gabra began to improve immediately. Amber and her medical team spent the night in the village. The next day when Amber met with her, Gabra was vibrant and was enjoying time with her new baby.

Here’s the best part – Gabra named her baby Amber! She may be the first baby born in Ethiopia with that name.  Meet doma’s medical coordinator, Amber, Hidota Health Center, and BABY AMBER in the videos below!
